Expeditions in Europe

Here are some of the expeditions I’ve completed across Europe that I’ll be sharing on this blog. It may take some time to document each journey in detail, but once they’re published, you’ll find them under the Europe tab in Expeditions. Below is the list in chronological order.

Dave and I started the Tour of the Lake District -a circuit of Cumbria’s Fells, Valleys and Lakes in the middle of winter 2024-25. Due to the weather, we had to pause the trip halfway, continued and completed the circuit a few months later.

Haute Route Ski Touring, France and Switzerland

Dates: 21-27 March 2025

Length: 7 Days

Start: Chamonix

Finish: Zermatt

Total Distance: 110km with 6500m acsent

Type: Group of 2, hut to hut

Seven days of ski touring along the legendary Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt — a 100km hut-to-hut journey through the heart of the Alps, linking the Mont Blanc Massif to the foot of the Matterhorn. A traverse across high mountains, crossing multiple 3000m passes and summiting Pigne d’Arolla (3790m), the highest point of the route. The experience was everything I love — stunning views, varied terrain, cosy huts, fresh tracks, and plenty of hard work. But we did it our way: carrying all our own food for the week, melting and filtering water, while everyone else enjoyed full meals at the huts. Monti the Monkey and little Cookie the Croc came along for the ride too.
